Create a smart home ecosystem with Muzzley
If you have as many smart home devices as I do, you’re probably popping in and out of all apps all day long. Until I heard about Muzzley, I didn’t realize there was a better way to navigate and use all of my favourite gadgets all within one app.
An overview of gaming laptops and PCs
While video game consoles continue to get better, try telling the large number of diehard gamers that they should give up their gaming PC. Why settle for the 1080p graphics dished up by consoles when you can enjoy higher quality video effects at 4K resolution? And, with PC gaming you can go mobile, thanks to gaming laptops. Just don’t think you can pull off a graphically demanding title like Battlefield 4 on any old laptop or PC. You need a specialized gaming rig in order to make the most of what PC games have to offer.
What appliances should I take to my dorm room?
As crazy as it sounds, a new school year is just around the corner. How did that happen? I haven’t even started my New Years resolutions yet! But there’s no getting around it, September will be here before you know it, so if you’re heading off to university this fall, now is the time to start collecting everything you need to make your dorm as comfortable as possible–including these essential dorm room appliances.
The Internet of Things and gaming
The Internet of Things has been covered in-depth on a few fronts. Tom gave you an overview of the IoT with this article, talking about how the internet is finding its way into televisions. We’ve seen other articles on how IoT is affecting our interaction with computers and wearables. There’s a category that has seen huge changes over the last decade as the internet becomes more integrated: gaming and toys. While this is by no means a comprehensive overview, here’s a look at how those categories are making the most out of their pipeline to the internet.
Home theatre essentials to amp up your love life
I don’t know what the weather is like where you live, but right now we are going through a pretty epic heat wave here on the west coast. Don’t get me wrong, I live for summer, but when it’s hot and humid like this I find that a number of my otherwise “normal” activities often take a backseat to more pressing issues, like searching out air conditioning and cold bodies of water. For example, blow drying and straightening my hair (not going to happen), cooking anything in the oven (it’s already a million degrees in my apartment), and sadly, romance (there’s no way we are cuddling). But believe it or not, you can actually amp up the summer romance with a movie night at home, regardless of how unbearably hot it is outside; all you need are a few essentials to improve your home theatre room and you’re set!
Open-world games you must play this year
Open-world is one of the most fun and innovative genres to watch evolve across all of gaming. Every year the maps get larger, the people and environments becomes more interactive and realistic, and the amount of freedom you can experience from roaming around a virtual world grows and grows. Here are a handful of recent and up-and-coming titles perfect for losing yourself in a vast, sprawling digital creation:
Pioneer Elite Receivers: Audio Refinement at its Best
Pioneer has been a household name in electronics for quite some time, particularly for audio equipment. They introduced their Elite series of audio receivers several years ago as their premium product, but recently upgraded it a big step up from previous generations. They’ve improved both the audio performance and the feature set so these Elite receivers can fill your home with music as well as deliver surround sound that will really enhance your home theatre experience. Here is a taste of why they are so good.
Wearables to boost your golf game
One of my favourite summer activities is grabbing my clubs and heading to the driving range (and then complaining about how sore I am the next day). I don’t golf on a full course much. I wasn’t blessed with the greatest short game, and to call my putting atrocious would be an understatement. However, I’m keen to get back out on a course just to try some of the new golf wearables out there. From swing coaching to a GPS watch that tells you how far you are from the green, there’s a helpful wearable waiting for you to take for a spin this golf season.
Computer keyboards: which one is right for you?
When it comes to a desktop PC, we tend to focus on high profile features like the display and the CPU. However, one of the things we take for granted—the lowly keyboard—can actually have just as much impact on how productive you are, or how much you enjoy using a computer. The good news is that the keyboard is one of the most easily (and inexpensively) replaced components of your PC, and there are plenty of options to choose from. Bluetooth, mechanical, backlit, full-sized, portable … which computer keyboard is right for you? I’ll explain the options and help you choose.
